- Chapter - The Vendor of Sweets
The relationship of Grace and Mali was not a strong one because they were very different from each other like:
- Jagan respects his culture. He values the traditions.
- He wears homespun cloth.
- He tries his best to maintain his way of life like Gandhiji.
- Jagan carries with him the legacy of being a freedom fighter in India's struggle against the British.
- He believed and cared for those values truly.
Whereas:
- Mali has not that much respects about his culture.
- He finds them backward.
- He doesn't love his father because he finds him the cause of his Mother's death.
- He went to America without permission.
That's why, they were different and relationship was incapable of overcoming those differences.
