2(3x+8)=40
Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation.
2(3x+8)=40
(2)(3x)+(2)(8)=40
(Distribute)
6x+16=40
Step 2: Subtract 16 from both sides.
Step 3: Divide both sides by 6.
6x6=246x=4
Answer:
x=4
