What is the equation of a line in slope intercept form that passes through (-2,2) and is perpendicular to the graph of y=1/2x-3.

The answer is y = -2x-2

To find the slope of a line perpendicular to your equation, you just need to find the reciprocal. This just means flip the signs (change positive to negative, or negative to positive) and flip the numerator and denominator. So if you have 1/4 as your slope, the perpendicular slope would be -4/1 (which is just negative 4).

I changed the “b” from -3 to -2 so it would run through the points (-2, 2).
