slope is defined as rise over run. The difference of the x coordinates divided by the difference of the y coordinates will provide the slope. You may have seen this as,


m = (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

plugging the values of the coordinates in, we get


(8 - ( - 4))/( - 4 - ( - 6)) = 6

I know right now, this stuff may seem super over your head and odd, I was there too. But trust me when I say, it's worth learning the basics now, or you will struggle through highschool and college if you plan on attending.
