explain the realtionship that existed between the colonists and England prior to the French and Indian war?

Answer: There was sort of a neutral relationship.

Explanation: There wasn't any heavy, overexaggerated taxing, or big incidents like the Boston Massacre, so they were able to live pretty well with the British reign. Most colonists even thought of themselves as British citizens, which they thought made them subjects of George II.
