Hey, I'm not very sure but I just want to give it a try, hopefully it helps. If not, I'm so sorry.

They said the line segment creates two similar triangles. This means that 18 is like the base of the triangle (just like how 3 is the base of the smaller triangle) and h is like the height of the triangle (just like how 6 is the height of the triangle). Thus, if you put it as a fractional proportion way, it would be:


(6)/(3) =
(h)/(18)

(6 = h and 3 = 18 but in different sizes, proportion stays the same)

You can even try to solve h using
(6)/(3) =
(h)/(18) .

2 =
(h)/(18)

h = 2 × 18

h = 36
