If you rotate point (4, 2) 90° and 180° about the origin, how do the x- and

y-coordinates change?

Answer:

(4, 2) to (-2, 4) to (-4, -2).

Explanation:

This 90 degree rotation depends on the direction of the rotation. I'm assuming clockwise here.

So (4, 2) rotated 90 degrees puts the point at (-2, 4).

Another 90 degrees (therefore total 180 degrees), and we get to (-4, -2).
