Answer:

x = 15

Explanation:

THe equation is: 8x - 5x + 155 = 8x + 80

So first we are going to have to simplify the equation so its more workable:

3x + 155 = 8x + 80

Now we are going to subtract 3x from both sides to move the x varbles onto one side:

3x + 155 = 8x + 80

- 3x - 3x

so the equation now looks like this:

155 = 5x + 80

Now we subtract 80 from both sides so that there is only variables on one side and whole numbers on the other:

155 = 5x + 80

- 80 - 80

SO it looks like this:

75 = 5x

Now we divide 75 and 5x by 5 so that we segregate the x variable:

75/5 = 5x / 5

15 = x

Now we check the answer by placing 15 where the x is in the equation:

8x - 5x + 155 = 8x + 80 now 8(15) - 5(15) + 155 = 8(15) + 80

8(15) - 5(15) + 155 = 8(15) + 80

120 - 75 + 155 = 120 + 80

Now we add all the numbers on one side of the equal side and on the other:

120 - 75 + 155 = 120 + 80

200 = 200

Hope this helps you!
