How is 3x(6+4)-2x4=96 wrong?

well, yes. there a variable (x) is there which isn't in the '96' answer so that's one reason.

And your answer is 100% wrong, the correct answer is 30x - 8

now I won't let you down so here it is:

a useful mathematical term(s) is PEMDAS ( Parenthesis, exponent, Multiplication, division, addition, subtraction)

first: the P:

3x(6+4)-2 * 4 >> 3x (10) -2 *4

second: since there are no Exponents you skip to M:

3x(10) - 2 * 4 >> 30x - 8

and done because 30x and 8 are not like terms so this is as far as you go!

Bonus: like terms ex: 8 + 8 or 30x + 30x are like terms so you cant do 30x - 8!
