Some parts of the states of Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Tripura, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala are practiced shifting farming. Shifting farming in different regions has different names. In South India, shifting farming is called as “Kumari". In North India, shifting farming is known as “Jhum".
