The area (A) of a parallelogram is calculated as

A = bh ( b is the base and h the perpendicular height )

(i)

Here A = 48, b = AB and h = DE = 6 , then

AB × 6 = 48 ( divide both sides by 6 )

AB = 8 cm

(ii)

Here A = 252, b = PQ = 9 and h = RT , then

9 × RT = 252 ( divide both sides by 9 )

RT = 28 cm
