(5+x)/(3+x) =
(3)/(2) ( cross- multiply )

3(3 + x) = 2(5 + x) ← distribute parenthesis on both sides

9 + 3x = 10 + 2x ( subtract 2x from both sides )

9 + x = 10 ( subtract 9 from both sides )

x = 1

then the number to be added to both is 1
