The sum of two numbers is 123 and the difference of the two numbers is 47. What are the two numbers?

Answer-
85 and 38
Explanation-
x+y= 123
x-y=47
The y values cancel out and the c values can be added together making it
2x=170
Divide by 2
x=85
Put 85 in for x in the original equation and solve for y getting 38
Check your work
85-38=47
85+38=123
