4x - 28 > 14x + 2

you need to get the x’s all on one side. I suggest subtraction -4x from both sides to not only cancel out the 4x but it also keeps both sides equal

-28 > 10x + 2

you need to get 10x by itself on the right side so you must subtract 2 from both sides to equal and remove 2

-30 > 10x

divide both sides by 10 to get x by itself

-3 > x

which is the same as x < -3
