M is independent because it can change without depending on others factors. You can do 1 minute or 60 minutes but it won’t matter.
C is dependent. Variable C depends on variable M. If variable M increases, so does C. Since C is the calories burned, the amount of calories burned depends on how long you’ve exercised. Therefore
M is independent and C is dependent
