x = -9,

y = -6

Explanation:

2x - 6y =18

-2x + 4y = -6

you can add the equations together as is and eliminate x

-2y = 12

y = -6

then plug back in,

2x - 6(-6) = 18

2x + 36 = 18

2x = -18

x= -9
