Always make sure u do PEMDAS so since the number that Amy picked is unknown we will label it X. Next step was x added to 8 which will look like this x+8 but wants the sum multiplied by 3 so since we don't know the answer we will close it in parenthesis and multiply it by 3 which will look like 3(x+8) and lastly add the equal sign and the number 9.
