perimeter is distance all round a figure

in a rectangle we have two pairs of opposite but equal lines

breadth = 2x( because of the two breadths in a rectangle) - 20

length = 2x( because of the two lengths in a rectangle)

perimeter = 2x + 2x - 20

120 = 4x - 20

120 + 20 = 4x

140 = 4x

35 = x

to get the dimensions, we have to divide by 2 as we took both parts of each dimension

breadth = 2x - 20
