What does the sequence of amino acids tell you about an organism and its relationship to another?

Would they be similar or different? Why?

Answer: Because the amino acid sequence of a protein is determined by its DNA sequence, a gene shared by two closely related animals should have amino acid sequences that are similar, if not identical. Because closely related species split from one another very recently in the evolutionary timeline, this is the case.
