Facilitated diffusion
is down the concentration gradient from higher concentration to lower concentration and does not require energy, whereas
active transport
is from lower concentration to higher concentration against the concentration gradient and requires energy.
The
facilitated diffusion
takes place along the concentration gradient and does not require energy. On the other hand, in
active transport
molecules move against the concentration gradient and this process requires energy
