£20 is divided between Pip, Sara & Gordon so that Pip gets twice as much as Sara, and Sara gets three times as much as Gordon. How much does Pip get?

Answer:

pip gets £12

Explanation:

gordon = x

sara = 3x (as she gets three times as much as gordon)

pip = 6x (because she gets twice as much as sara)

6x + 3x + x = 20

10x = 20

x = 20

6 * 2 = 12
