Answer:

Width = 4 in

Length = 8 in

Explanation:

Given:

Area of a rectangle = 32 in²

Find:

Length and width

Computation:

Assume;

Width = x

Length = x + 4

Area of a rectangle = lb

32 = (x+4)(x)

x² + 4x = 32

x² + 4x - 32 = 0

x² + 8x - 4x - 32 = 0

x(x+8) - 4(x+8) = 0

(x-4)(x+8)

x = 4 , x = -8

So,

Width = x = 4 in

Length = x + 4 = 4 + 4 = 8 in
