Rainy day scenario:

From the information given, the rain in the rain gauge increases by 2 inches per day (24 hours = 1 day). The increase of rain over an 8 day period will be
2*8=16 inches of rain.

Temperature scenario:

From the information given, the temperature drops
48^(\circ) /12hours. To find how many degrees the temperature dropped per hour:


48^(\circ)/12/12hours/12 = 4^(\circ)/1hour

∴ The temperature drops
4^(\circ) per hour.
