First you simplify
The lines represent absolute value so everything inside would be positive.
3x + 2 + 4 = 4

Now simplify

3x + 6 = 4 <— Answer

Subtract 4 by both sides first
|3x - 2| = 0
3x = 2
3x = -2
X = 2/3, -2/3
