For the first one , if your solving for x , the answer would be : x=8-4y
For the first one , if your solving for y , your answer would be : y=2-x/4

2x-7y=-14
Solving for x : x=-7 +7y/2
Solving for y : y=2+ 2x/7

Answer:

(0, 2)

General Formulas and Concepts:

Pre-Algebra

  • Order of Operations: BPEMDAS
  • Equality Properties

Algebra I

  • Solving systems of equations using substitution/elimination
  • Solving systems of equations by graphing

Explanation:

Step 1: Define systems

-2x - 8y = -16

2x - 7y = -14

Step 2: Solve for y

Elimination

  1. Add 2 equations together: -15y = -30
  2. Divide -15 on both sides: y = 2

Step 3: Solve for x

  1. Define original equation: 2x - 7y = -14
  2. Substitute in y: 2x - 7(2) = -14
  3. Multiply: 2x - 14 = -14
  4. Add 14 to both sides: 2x = 0
  5. Divide 2 on both sides: x = 0

Step 4: Graph

Check the system.

-2x - 8y = -16 2x - 7y = -14-example-1
