Shasta pools is building my pool. I want the pool to be 8ft longer that it is wide and I want it to cover 240 square ft. Which equations would I use to model the area of the pool? *

area = w² + 8w

Explanation:

the equation for calculating the area of something is:

area = length x width

length = 8 + width

area = (8 + width) x width

I will use w instead of width

area = w² + 8w

we can solve for w:

240 = w² + 8w

w² + 8w - 240 = 0

(w - 20) x (w + 12) = 0

so we know that the length of the pool is 20 feet and the width is 12 feet
