Factor both numbers

15: 5 * 3

9 ; 3 * 3

The reason you do this is because the LCM has the most number of factors of one factor. That wording is a bit clumsy but it is correct.

So of the 3s you need 2 of them. The third one is less than 3 so it does not count.

Of the the 5s you need 1.

The lowest common multiple, you need 3 * 3 * 5

Answer 9*5 = 45
