Suppose two fractions be

  • a/b
  • c/d

Now

\\ \rm\Rightarrow (a)/(b)+(c)/(d)

  • Find LCM of b and d
  • divide LCM by b and d and multiply with a and c respectively

\\ \rm\Rightarrow (ad+bc)/(bd)

Explanation:

1 Find common denominator (lower numbers)

2 add numerators(top numbers)

3 put the numerator over the denominator

ex 3/4+2/8

3x2=6,4x2=8

3/4=6/8

6/8+2/8=8/8 or 1
