Slope is
(rise)/(run). Or, in other words the distance it travels in the y direction divided by the distance it travels in the x direction. Each time the y variable increments +4 and the x variable increments +1. Which means the line rises 4 units every time it runs 1 unit.

(rise)/(run)=(4)/(1)=4
