45 cm^2

Explanation:

Dividing the shape into the two separate components of a square and a triangle makes it easier.

The square area is found by multiplying the side by the side, 6cm*6cm which gives us 36cm^2.

Then the triangle the height is 3cm and the base is 6cm. Using the formula 1/2*base*height.

Which would be 1/2*6*3=9cm^2.

Adding the two, 9+36= 45cm^2.
