Answer: Great Britain came to Japan and ”forced” it to open its borders for trade and to not be as secluded. the japanese realized how behind they were when it came to technological advancement and that they needed to catch up. So, they began to trade and colonize other countries in order to get proper resources for their industrialization and modernization. They became imperialists in order to accomplish their fast-paced effort of being advanced one again. They were isolated for years before Britain forced themselves in.
