Answer: B, The changing tone of the voices.

Explanation: I don't know what the excerpt was about or how particularly important footsteps were in it, but usually that is the main advantage of a well played out audiobook or excerpt.

Tone can only be implied in text with adjectives and punctuation, but with audio, tone can be changed far more easily on the fly.
