Answer: The value of the stock increased by 820 points that week

Step-by-step explanation:

The given is:

The value of a stock increases 1423 points twice in one week

The other three days the value decreases by 10 points, 813 points, and

1223 points

We need to know by how many points the value of the stock changed that week

∵ The value of a stock increases 1423 points twice in one week

- Increase means add, twice means multiply the increasing value by 2

∴ The increasing value of the stock = 2(1423) = 2866 points

∵ The value decreases by 10 points, 813 points, and 1223 points on the other three days

∴ The decreasing value = 10 + 813 + 1223 = 2046 points

The change of the value of the stock is the difference between,

the increasing value and the decreasing value, if the increasing

value is greater than the decreasing value then the change in the

value is increasing, if the decreasing value is greater than the

increasing value then the change in the value is decreasing

∵ The value of increasing > the value of decreasing

∴ The change of the value = increasing - decreasing

∴ The change of the value = 2866 - 2046 = 820 points

The value of the stock increased by 820 points that week
