Answer(assuming we solve x):
1st Equation: x= -3/2y-3
2nd Equation: x=-(10y+18)/7

Step by Step Explanation:
1st Equation: since "solve" usually means to find x unless told to solve for another variable, we are going to isolate x in both equations

-24-8x=12y (add 24 to both sides)
+24 +24

-8x=12y+24 (isolate 8 from x)
/-8 /-8

x=-3/2y-3 [simplify fractions (-12/8 turns to -3/2)]

2nd Equation:
1+10/18y=-7/18x

1+10/18y=-7/18x (convert 5/9 to 10/18 to divide)

1+10/18y=-7/18x (isolate -7/18 from x)
/-7/18 /-7/18

(to make this easier on ourselves)
-(10y+18)/7=x
OR
-18/7-10/7y=x

here's the work i did...
