Larger number is 17 = y
Smaller number is 14 = x

——
X = smaller number

Y = larger number

What we know
X+ y = 31, also written as x = 31-y
2x = 11 + y

Substitute x = 31 -y into second equation

2(31-y) =11+ y
62-2y = 11+ y
51-2y = y
51= 3y
17 = y

X = 31-y
X= 14

Answer:

The large number is 17

Explanation:

x+y=31⟹x=31−y

2x=y+11⟹x=y+11/2

2(y+11/2)=2(31−y)

y+11=62−2y

3y=51

y=17 x=14

Hope this helps, have a nice day! :)
