Hi student, let me help you out!
..........................................................................................................................
-----------------------------------
Part 1. Sequence - Arithmetic or Geometric?
- If a sequence is arithmetic, we add or subtract the same amount to get to the following term.
- If a sequence is geometic, we multiply or divide by the same amount.
✨
---------------------------------
Part 2. Common Difference or Ratio?
- In arithmetic sequences, the amount we add or subtract is the common difference.
- In geometric sequences, the amount we multiply or divide by is the common ratio.
Please see Part 1 for explanation of arithmetic/geometric sequences.
✨
---------------------------------
Part 3. How to Find the C.D. or C.R.?
- What do we add/subtract from each term to get the following term? In the given sequence, we add 4.
- What do we multiply/divide by to get the next term?
This given sequence doesn't have a common ratio; it's arithmetic.
A sequence can't be both arithmetic and geometric.
∴, the common difference is ✨4.
Hope this helped you out, ask in comments if any queries arise.
Best Regards!
