Volume of object = Total volume - volume of water

Volume of object = 9.7 mL

Density of object;

d = mass/volume

d = 14.8 g / 9.7 mL

d = 1.53 g/mL

The density of water is 1.00 g/mL which means object is heavier than water thus object will sink into the water. The object with density less than water are float in it.
