Sam has 3x + 4 dollars saved. Tessa has saved 7x + 16 dollars. Together they

have $110 saved. How much money have they each saved individually?

Answer:

Sam: 31

Tessa: 79

Explanation:

3x+4+7x+16=110

10x+20=110

10x=110-20

10x=90

x=9

Money Sam saved

=3(9)+4

=27+4

=31

Money Tessa saved

=7(9)+16

=63+16

=79
