In the plant snap dragons, flower color is controlled by incomplete dominance. The two alleles are red (R) and white (W). The heterozygous genotype is expressed as pink. What cross will result in their being at least one of each color within the offspring?

Answer:

The cross between two plants of heterozygous genotype i.e. two pink-coloured flowers will result in progeny/ offsprings having one of each color (white, red and pink).

Parents.... RW × RW

↓ ↓

Gametes... R, W R, W

Inbreeding...

Progeny.... RR, RW, WW, RW

Hence, 50% of the offsprings will be pink coloured, 25% will be of red color and another 25% will be white color.
