Answer:

The Hispanic or Latino ethnic group is an example of a culture with a lot of influence in present-day society in the United States.

Step-by-step explanation:

The Hispanic or Latino ethnic group is the largest minority group in the United States and it is growing at a high rate. It is estimated there are over 60 million people of Hispanic background in the United States. They are most distinguished because they speak largely Spanish as their first language although the second generation -- the children of immigrants or migrants -- are fully bilingual in most cases. They are different from some other groups in the United States because territorially a large part of the United States was formerly a part of Mexico. In the mainstream American school system this is not treated like a colonial relationship but to a large extent it was.

One stereotype is that all Hispanic Americans are recent migrants but the Anglo-American population knows little about the history with Puerto Rico for example and that Puerto Ricans are also US citizens. In general, the Latino population is gaining further and further representation in politics and among the mainstream and they should be better able to defend their status and culture in the future.
