Convert 2/5, 1/4 and 7/10 to fractions with like denominators.

\bf{(2*4)/(5*4)+(1*5)/(4*5)+(7*2)/(10*2) \ \ \to \ \ \ Multiply }

\bf{(8)/(20)+(5)/(20)+(14)/(20) }

Since 8/20,5/20 and 14/20 have the same denominator, add their numerators to add them up.

\bf{(8+5+14)/(20) \ \ \to \ \ \ Add. }
