Answer:

w=35, L = 17

Explanation:

the perimeter is all sides added together to total 104. so,

2L + 2W= 104

the width is one more than twice it's length, so W = 2L + 1

plug that into first equation.

2L + 2(2L+1)=104

distribute:. 2L + 4L + 2= 104 and continue to solve for L

6L + 2= 104 subtract 2 from both sides.

6L = 102, divide both sides by 6

L = 17. so the length is 17 ft. now use that number to put it in our equation for width, W= 2L + 1

W= 2(17)+1

W = 35
