Triangular Prism with base lengths 3 m, 4 m, 5 m, and a height of 6m. What is the surface area?

(Surface area of prism = 2 × area of base + perimeter of base × height)

Triangular Prism with base lengths 3 m, 4 m, 5 m, and a height of 6m. What is the surface area?

Solution:

  • SAP = 4 + 5 + 3/2 = 12/2 = 6
  • SAP = 6 - 5 = 1
  • SAP = 6 - 4 = 2
  • SAP = 6 -3 = 3

  • A = √6 x 1 x 2 x 3
  • A = √36 = 6m²

  • SA = 2 x 6 + 12 x 6
  • SA = 12cm + 72cm
  • Surface Area = 84cm²

So the Surface area is 84cm²

Finding area of base using Heron's Formula :

⇒ s = 5 + 4 + 3 / 2 = 12/2 = 6

⇒ s - a = 6 - 5 = 1

⇒ s - b = 6 - 4 = 2

⇒ s - c = 6 - 3 = 3

⇒ Area = √6 × 1 × 2 × 3

⇒ Area = √36 = 6 m²

Finding the Surface Area :

⇒ 2 × 6 + 12 × 6

⇒ 12 + 72

84 m²
