Perimeter = 2 x Length + 2 x Width

The perimeter of a rectangle is 66. If the Length is two more
than three times the Width, what is the length of that rectangle?

  • Then the length is 3x + 2
  • Perimeter = 66

Perimeter formula

  • P = 2(l +w)

Substitute values

  • 66 = 2(3x + 2 + x)
  • 33 = 4x + 2
  • 4x = 31

  • x = 7.75

The length is:

  • 3*7.75 + 2 = 25.25
