The cell membrane of the red blood cell will allow water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and glucose to enter and leave the membrane. Why is this function of the cell membrane important?

Answer:

All substances that the cell needs(such as water and other nutrients) enter through the cell membrane. Waste products of the cell come out through the cell membrane. The cell membrane prevents harmful substances from entering the cell and keeps useful substances inside the cell.
