The Stone Rebellion occurred in 1739. At that time, a group of slaves led by a leader named Jemmy revolted and killed around 25 colonists. (last name of the leader is unknown since the slave-owners didn't even bother to find out his true cultural name) .

From around 60 slaves that involved in that Rebellion, 50 of them were killed during their effort.

As a response to this rebellion, The State of South Carolina created a legislations that prevented slave owners to give harsh punishments to the slaves in order to prevent potential revolts in the future.
