Explanation:

- first rearrange -5x + y = 2 and you'll have y = 5x + 2

- the slopes of parallel lines are equal so the slope of the line is 5

so far we have y = 5x + b

- to get b, replace the values in the equation by the values of the given point

(1) = 5(-2) + b

- rearrange and calculate, b = 11

y = 5x + 11
