Seth earns $20 a day and $2 for each ticket he sells at the local theatre. Write and solve an inequality that can be used to find how many tickets he must sell in a day to earn at least $85.

Explanation:

In this equation, the 85 represents how much he needs to make. The greater than or equal to symbol is basically stating that he needs to make an amount greater than or equal to 85. Our variable, x, will tell us how many tickets he needs to sell, and the 2 represents how much each ticket sells for. 2x is just saying that each ticket sells for 2 dollars. The 20 is how much he makes on a daily basis without the ticket sales. We have to include that in the 85. That's where our equation comes from :)
