At the time the US was attacked by the Japanese in Pearl Harbor which had been the only reason for their involvement in world war 2. Also the Japanese were the US’s main enemy because of the attack which led them to be unsure about the Japanese American population living inside the US.

The internment of Japanese-Americans during WWII was an action which was totally unjustified and barbaric. Firstly, this same treatment wasn’t given to German or Italian Americans, implying a distrust of Asian people at the time, an extremely racist ideology. Secondly, the Japanese Americans had no ties to the Japanese government, they weren’t soldiers or spies, this again would totally destroy any legitimacy of holding Japanese Americans in internment camps.
