The equation that can be used to solve the problem is 2x + 1 = 73 ( option D)

Word problem is a way of putting mathematical equation in words. To solve, this words are interpreted in to mathematical equation.

Represent the first integer by x

therefore the second consecutive integers will be x + 1

The sum of these integers is 73

therefore;

x + x + 1 = 73

2x + 1 = 73

therefore the equation to solve the problem is 2x + 1 = 73

x = 72/2 = 36

therefore the numbers are 36 and 37
